Gatálogo Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your use of the Gatálogo app (com.gatalogo.gatalogo). By installing or using the app, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms. If you do not agree, uninstall the app and do not use it.

1. What Gatálogo is

Gatálogo is a personal reading catalog for Android. With it you can:

  • record books with cover, author, genre, pages, dates, status, rating, favorites, and comments;
  • organize books into collections and view a reading calendar and timeline;
  • follow statistics, yearly goals, yearly recaps, a reading streak, and achievements;
  • pick your next book with a bracket or a random draw;
  • share books as an image, a file, or a Word document (.docx);
  • get reading reminders and customize how the app looks;
  • export and import backups of your library.

Gatálogo's purpose is only to catalog and organize your reading and to encourage the reading habit. The app does not let you attach, download, open, or read e-books, PDFs, ePubs, or any other file containing the content of a work. It does not distribute books and must not be used to encourage piracy or illegal reading.

The "book file" you can share contains only the record data (title, author, genre, page count, description, and cover), never the text of the work.

2. Local operation

Gatálogo has no server, no account, and no cloud sync. All data stays only on your device. This means that:

  • the developer cannot recover your data if you lose, replace, or reset your phone, or uninstall the app;
  • you are responsible for making backups with the export feature and for keeping those files in a safe place;
  • data is not synced between devices. To move it to another phone, export a backup and import it on the new device.

Importing a backup replaces all current data in the app. This action cannot be undone.

3. License

The developer grants you a personal, free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Gatálogo on your own devices for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

  • copy, modify, distribute, sell, or rent the app or any part of it;
  • reverse engineer it, except where the law allows;
  • use the Gatálogo name, logo, or mascot without permission.

4. User content

The books, covers, comments, and other information you record are yours. The developer has no access to them and claims no rights over them.

You are responsible for the content you record and share. When using book covers and other images, respect the rights of their copyright holders. Do not use the app for illegal purposes.

The developer does not monitor, moderate, or have access to the content recorded in the app, and is not responsible for it. You must not use Gatálogo to record, store, or share illegal content, such as child sexual abuse or exploitation material, incitement to crime, hate speech, or content that violates the rights of others. All civil and criminal liability for such use rests solely with the person who engages in it.

5. Sharing and third-party services

When you share content, Gatálogo uses the Android share menu. The apps and services you choose (for example WhatsApp, Instagram, or Google Drive) have their own terms, and the developer is not responsible for them.

Covers loaded by URL come from third-party websites. The developer does not control those websites or their content.

Only import book files and backups from sources you trust.

6. Free app and voluntary support

Gatálogo is free and has no ads or in-app purchases. Every feature is available to everyone, with no payment at all.

Support through PIX is completely voluntary and never required. It works as a donation: it does not buy extra features, priority support, or anything else in return.

Amounts received are used to maintain and improve the app and will not be refunded.

7. Intellectual property

The app, including its code, design, illustrations, mascot, sounds, text, and brand, belongs to the developer and is protected by intellectual property law. Book titles, author names, and covers belong to their respective owners.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Gatálogo is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. The developer works to keep the app stable but does not guarantee that it will be error-free or available without interruption.

Statistics, goals, streaks, and achievements are calculated from the data you enter and are for reference only.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for:

  • data loss caused by device failure, uninstalling, clearing data, changing phones, or not having a backup;
  • damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app;
  • third-party content, such as images loaded by URL or files received from other people;
  • content recorded, stored, or shared by users.

Nothing in these terms limits rights guaranteed by consumer protection law or other applicable laws.

10. Updates and termination

The developer may update, change, or discontinue the app or any of its features at any time. Updates may migrate the database to a new format while keeping your data. Make a backup before major updates.

You may stop using Gatálogo at any time by uninstalling the app.

11. Privacy

How your information is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The date at the top shows the latest update. By continuing to use the app after a change, you agree to the new version.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. Any dispute related to them will be settled in the courts of the user's place of residence.
