Gatálogo Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Gatálogo app (com.gatalogo.gatalogo) handles your information. In short: Gatálogo does not collect, send, or sell your data. Everything you record stays on your own device. By using the app, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, uninstall the app and do not use it.

1. Who we are

Gatálogo is a personal reading catalog app for Android, made by an independent developer. For questions about this policy, email gatalogobooks@gmail.com.

2. A local app

Gatálogo works without its own server, without an account, and without a login.

  • Your data is saved in an SQLite database in the app's internal storage on your phone.
  • The developer has no access to your library, ratings, comments, or any other information you record.
  • The app does not use third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash reporting tools.

3. Information you record

In the app you can record, among other things:

  • book data: title, author, genre, page count, reading dates, status, rating, favorites, and comments;
  • book and collection covers;
  • collections, reading goals, reading streak, and achievements;
  • app preferences: language, theme, sounds, reminders, and library view.

Gatálogo does not store or open e-book files, such as PDFs or ePubs. It keeps only catalog data and cover images.

This information is used only to make the app work on your device: listing books and generating statistics, yearly recaps, achievements, and reminders.

4. Android permissions

Permission What it is for
Camera Taking a photo of a book cover, only when you choose that option.
Photos and media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) Picking an image from your gallery to use as a cover.
Notifications Showing the reading reminders you turn on. Reminders are scheduled on the device itself.
Internet Loading a cover image when you enter the address (URL) of an image on the web.

You can deny or revoke these permissions at any time in Android settings. The rest of the app keeps working.

5. Internet connections

Gatálogo only goes online in situations you start:

  • Covers by URL: if you enter the address of an image, your device downloads that image directly from that website. The website may log technical connection data, such as your IP address, under its own privacy policy.
  • External links: when you tap the Instagram link or the contact email, the app opens your browser or the matching app, which follows its own policy.

6. Sharing

Gatálogo only shares something when you ask it to. When you share a book image, a book file, a Word document (.docx), or a backup, the app opens the Android share menu. The destination you choose (for example WhatsApp, Instagram, email, or Google Drive) then handles that content under its own policy.

Book files received from another person are only imported after you confirm.

7. Backup and security

  • Manual backup: the export feature creates a .zip file with your library and covers. This file is not encrypted. Keep it in a safe place and only share it with people you trust.
  • Android automatic backup: if Google backup is turned on for your device, Android itself may copy the app's data to your Google account. That service belongs to Google and follows Google's privacy policy. The developer has no access to that copy.
  • The database is kept in the app's private storage, protected by Android, but it has no extra encryption. Protect your device with a password or biometrics.

8. Retention and deletion

Your data stays on the device until you delete it. You can:

  • delete books, collections, and comments inside the app;
  • erase all data in Android Settings > Apps > Gatálogo > Storage > Clear data;
  • uninstall the app, which erases the data saved in it.

Once deleted, data cannot be recovered unless you have a backup.

9. Your rights

Data protection laws, such as Brazil's LGPD (Law No. 13,709/2018) and the European GDPR, give you rights such as access, correction, and deletion of your data. Because the developer does not collect or store your data, you exercise these rights directly in the app: you can view, edit, export, and delete all of your data yourself.

10. Children

Gatálogo is suitable for a general audience and does not collect data from anyone, including children and teenagers.

11. Contact and support

If you email gatalogobooks@gmail.com, we receive your email address and the content of your message. This information is used only to reply to you.

Voluntary support through PIX is processed by your bank. Gatálogo does not receive or store payment data.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated, for example if the app gains new features. The date at the top shows the latest update. Relevant changes will be announced in the release notes.
